About Matt Fisher

Known for his versatility, Matt Fisher is rapidly becoming a sought after drummer on the London music scene across a diverse range of styles from pop and rock to jazz and orchestral. Having studied with renowned drummers including Martin Franceand Clark Tracey, Matt has gone on to perform and collaborate with some of the UK’s most prominent musicians such as; Tina May, Abram Wilson, Nikki Illes, Steve Waterman, Anita Wardell, Mark Hodgson, Martin Speake, Mark Lockheart, Geoff Gascoyne, Christine Tobin, The London Arts Orchestra, Nu Civilisation Orchestra and Bryden Strings. He has played at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues and festivals including; Glastonbury, Oxford Jazz Festival, Priddy Folk Festival, Brecon Jazz Festival, Brighton Fringe Festival, Sculptures By The Lake, Symphony Hall Birmingham, and Pizza Express Jazz Club amongst others. He has also toured and performed in the USA, Morocco, Mexico and across Europe.


The Teacher:
In demand as an educationalist, Matt provides regular workshops and lessons on drum kit and percussion. He currently holds a post as visiting Drum Kit Tutor and Jazz Ensemble Coach at St Benedict’s School in Ealing and the specialist music academy Ark King Solomon Academy. He has also worked as an Assistant Tutor for the Trinity Jazz Summer School, and the International French Jazz Summer School. Matt is currently training as an Associate Examiner for the Trinity music exam board. Publications include a transcription book on the drummer Tony Williams (Tony Williams – So What 1964 Jazzwise Publications), featuring for the first time a full transcription and analysis of the drummer’s groundbreaking playing in the live version of ‘So What’from the classic 1964 Miles Davis album; ‘Four and More’.
