About Thomas Shepherd

I live for playing drums and have done all my life. It's what I love doing and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
I've played every kind of music so I am a very versatile and well rounded musician. All levels and age groups are welcome: from complete beginners to advanced students. I am comfortable in all styles of music, from jazz to funk through to metal and hip-hop.

The main teaching topics covered include: sight reading, drum techniques & rudiments, drum concepts and play-along tracks plus many more. I also do a lot of drum transcription and arranging so I have many drum charts to work from. However if there is particular things that you wish to cover I am happy to do so.

Rates: £25 per hour for one-to-one drum lessons or £15 half hour sessions.

A bit about me:
I graduated with a First Class Hons BMus Jazz Performance degree in 2006 and have been working in Music ever since. I have fought all my life and spend the last few years working as a Musical Director travelling the world for Carnival Cruise Lines.

I have played all over the UK and abroad with Function Bands, Jazz trios, Original bands and singer songwriters. I have also played many years in Brass bands and Orchestras so I can be powerful and subtle. I played in anything I could growing up as I wished to be the most well rounded musician possible and I just wanted to play as much as I could.

I can teach here at my sound proof studio or I can do home visits to teach on your own drum kits if required.
