About Daniel Harding Israelsen

Hi,
I am a London-based drummer spending time on composing, teaching and playing music.

I mainly teach drum kit, snare drum, but also jazz harmony/theory.

I graduated in 2013 from Guildhall School of Music and Drama obtaining a first class honours degree. I am currently enrolled on an MMus course at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.

I mainly teach from my residence, but can travel in the local area (Lewisham, Greenwich, Ladywell etc.)
£30 per hour. This will include travel depending on how far away your place is from my location.
I can teach all ages and levels. My teaching experience spans from 8 years to 50 years of age. From beginner to highly advanced.

An important thing, for anyone really, is to establish a solid foundation about the history of drums and music in general, how drums were played and who the innovators were that transformed drumming into how most drummers play today. I prioritise stick and brush technique and teach in the right idiom of jazz and music in general which will enable my students to develop and improve for many years to come. Relaxation and accuracy is the key here. It is also very important to have basic knowledge of a range of styles and genres. The more versatile a drummer is, the better chances are for job opportunities.

I look forward to hear from you and help you to achieve your goal.

Where and with whom did I train?

Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Trinity Laban Conservatoire and Holstebro Music School (Denmark) Through my extensive learning I have had lessons with Alex Riel, Anders Mogensen, Espen Laub von Liljenskjold, Kresten Osgood, Andrew Bain, Ralph Salmins, Trevor Tomkins, Gene Claderazzo, Dave Wickins. Classical training with Michael Skinner, improvisation with Martin Hathaway, Composition and arranging with Scott Stroman, jazz harmony with Malcolm Edmonstone and Morten Ramsbøl.
