About Tim Langsford

I began playing drums aged 11 and became actively involved in the Cornish live music scene very young, by playing in Launceston based band ‘Freakshow’.  That outfit won a couple of local battle-of-the-band type competitions, and got to play Bristol’s Colston Hall as part of 1999’s ‘Voices of Promise’ showcase.  In 2001 I traveled to Greece with another Cornish band ‘Mary Can’t Sleep’ for a two-month stint of playing cover sets in bars.  Upon returning to the UK I relocated to London, attending an intensive 1 year diploma at Drumtech before completing a degree in Music Technology at Thames Valley University.  Throughout this time I picked up recording session work, mostly in Old Street’s prestigious Fortress studios as well as extensively playing the London circuit with post-punk bands such as ‘blacktigerfight’.  Upon returning to the South West in 2008 I joined blues outfit ‘Thomas Ford and the Dirty Harmonys’, a critically acclaimed six piece band for whom, as well as playing drums, I recorded two albums.  In 2010 we were selected to play the prestigious Moulin Blues festival in the Netherlands.  For the past two years I have also been playing with ‘The PJP Band’.  Our career highlights so far have included playing Glastonbury 2011, a full UK tour as support for Hard-Fi, a live session for BBC Radio London and Radios 1 and 6 playing our as-yet unreleased single ‘I Am a Racer’.  Throughout my various musical endeavors I have also given private drum tuition to a variety of adults and children, including taking a leadership role in percussion workshops with primary school children in 2000.  I currently give tuition to 4 students, aged between 4 and 32.
