About Roddy Bailey
About me:
Born and raised in Reading playing drums since 7 and have been obsessed ever since.
Attended the Berkshire Maestros Music School from age 10 until 18 developing skills on various tuned and untuned percussion instruments. It is also where I surrounded myself with various musical settings such as orchestras, percussion ensembles and brass bands, improving my playing, musical understanding and sight reading.
I attended Farnborough Sixth Form College where I continued my studies in music and music technology and was the drummer for the school jazz band.
In 2010 I moved to London and attended The Institute Of Contemporary Music Performance and in 2013 received a Bachelor's of Music Degree in Popular Music Performance.
Since then I have continued doing what I love through performing with covers/function bands, original rock and jazz bands, recording and composing music as a drummer and keyboard player, and of course sharing my musical knowledge with my students.
The last 2 years I have been a show band drummer on Carnival Cruise Lines and Celebrity Cruise Lines.
Lessons:
My lessons are planned to suit you through discussing your goals and how to best aim towards them. And it's fine if you don't have any, you just want to learn and improve, we can go by my lesson plan, suited for all undergraduate levels, beginner, intermediate and advanced.
I can work with kids and maturer students, I have experience teaching from 7 to 50. And I am more than happy to teach younger and older. I have a basic DBS check. I work with The Rock Project at Drayton Manor High School where I teach groups of kids.
I am confident in performing and teaching all genres relevant to the contemporary drum set, playing to a click track, reading notation, technique, all grips used (German, French and traditional) and more.

Credits
- 2 years on Carnival Cruise Lines as a show band drummer touring U.S.A (east and west coast), Caribbean and Mexico.
- Former drummer for Xylo performing in the UK and Japan. Recorded drums, keys and backing vocals on 5 track E.P. in 2012, 'Rollover Beethoven' from album 'With The Beatles' in 2013.
- Former drummer for The I.D. performing in the UK and Switzerland. Recorded drums on 5 track E.P. in 2012.
- Performed in The Royal Albert Hall for 2009 Youth Proms with The Berkshire Percussion Ensemble as a Percussionist.
- Toured around Europe with The Dawsons Berkshire Brass band and Berkshire Youth Orchestra in 2010 as a percussionist, and with Reading Concert Band in 2008 as a Percussionist.
